Synopsis[]
According to IMDB:
"Sick, twisted and politically incorrect, the animated series features the adventures of the Griffin family. Endearingly ignorant Peter and his stay-at-home wife Lois reside in Quahog, R.I., and have three kids. Meg, the eldest child, is a social outcast, and teenage Chris is awkward and clueless when it comes to the opposite sex. The youngest, Stewie, is a genius baby bent on killing his mother and destroying the world. The talking dog, Brian, keeps Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting through his own life issues."

Origin[]
The show was created after Seth MacFarlane had directed and written two short films, The Life of Larry and Larry and Steve. Larry was soon recreated to be the main protagonist of the series, Peter, and Larry was created to be a main character in the series, Brian. In 1998, Seth showed a 7 minute long pilot of the show to Fox, and thus, the show was greenlit.
After it's third season, which had aired in 2002, Family Guy was cancelled due to low viewership and ratings and the final episode of the season "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" was left unaired, but Adult Swim would 1 year later air that episode, ending the show. Shortly after, due to DVD sales and high ratings of syndicated episodes, Adult Swim revived the series in 2004, renewing it for a fourth season, in which began airing on FOX May 1, 2005.

Reception[]
Family Guy has received mix reviews, some portraying the show as a funny and satirical collection of a family constantly mocking the entire world through cutaways, but some criticizing the show as an unfunny, sick, and twisted show. It has been deemed the “Worst TV Show of The Week” over 3 times by the Parents Television Council.
