Invader Zim is an American animated television series about a short extraterrestrial who has plans to destroy and/or enslave the Human race and claim Earth for the Irken Empire. Though his plans are hindered by a poorly built robotic servant and Dib, a local student who sees Zim for the alien he is. The series ran two seasons from the 30th of March of the year 2001 till the 19th of August in the year 2006 when the series got cancelled.

Notes on the Setting[]
Invader Zim takes place in 'an alternate dimension on a present day (at the time early 2000s) Earth that is more technological advanced then our own' according to the DVD Commentary on the series. Though the episode Vindicated features a date of 'Friday 10/7'. Friday falls on the Seventh of October only during certain years such as 2016, 2022, 2033, 2039, and so forth. Earth seems to have gone through an intellectual and cultural degradation; with School being Skool among other occurrences. The Earth of the series is a dark satire of our own. Zim's people, the Irken Empire, have a social hierarchy based on height rather then any level of skill and is thus ruled by the tallest member of their species. In the show there are two 'Tallest' in the Empire as they are the same height. The Irken Empire tends to cleanse a planet of all Organic Life to make way for Irken kind and structures to service their kind. Often the Tallest find threats to their own influence in the form of short successful Irkens whose presence and recognition threaten the Empire's dogma concerning Height being indicative of Intelligence.
