Rotoscoping is a method of Animation where in live action footage is traced over frame by frame. Rotoscoping has been used for both the transfer of live action into an animated setting and for the transfer of animation into a live action setting. Rotoscoping was invented by Max Fleischer in 1917 in order to capture the complex movements of a horse in greater detail.
